The U.S. president is not wrong in pushing new technology as a solution for global warming. New technologies can be used to mitigate global warming and will be particularly useful if they are used together with other programmes. The Kyoto Protocol served a useful first step in bringing global warming and the efforts to combat it to wider public attention. What should we do to turn up the heat on countries which failed to join the protocol and those that signiificantly miss their targets? We could boycott some of their products and services.
